![]() A very experienced group of experts and practitioners have been invited to join the Dissemination and Exploitation Consensus Panel (DECP) of the Food in Later Life project. They will bring wide-ranging experience, expertise and contacts necessary to exploit the findings of this project and improve the food-related quality of life for older people. Their expertise includes areas such as retail property research, marketing to the "grey market", product development and health requirements of older people. The members of the Panel are: YVONNE COURT is a Partner and Head of Retail Research and Consultancy at Cushman & Wakefield Healey & Baker. She has extensive knowledge of advanced demographic analysis and market research techniques in the context of property consultancy projects. LOUISE DAVIES is a nutritionist and home economist who specialises in communication, using a variety of media to reach both the general public and academic audiences. She was head of the Gerontology Nutrition Unit, London University, fundraising for research into nutrition of the elderly and leading research programs on meals on wheels, and nutritional needs. CONOR DELAHUNTY was Lecturer in Sensory Science, Department of Food and Nutritional Sciences, University College Cork until he took up a new position as Director of Sensory Science Research Centre at the University of Otago, New Zealand, in July 2004. He was co-ordinator of the EU Framework 5 project HealthSense. STUART GRANGER leads Unilever’s Corporate Research into Healthy Ageing. His responsibility is to run the research program, to liaise with the world’s experts in ageing, take advantage of their research and their own to enable Unilever brands and products to improve healthy ageing trajectories of their consumers. INGER HESTVIK is head of Pensionärernas RiksOrganisation (Retired Pensioners National Organisation). She is 73 years old and has been headmistress and a member of the Swedish Parliament. She was also was a member of ”Senior 2005”, an investigation initiated by the Swedish government to look forward to see how the situation for elderly people would be in the future. CHRIS IGWE is Founder and Managing Director of Chris Igwe International, based in Paris. The Company specialises in strategic retail and real estate advice to international retailers. He is also the the Managing Director for European Operations of the American trade association, International Council of Shopping Centers. ANDREW ISAAC is the Marketing Director for Sodexho Healthcare and has built up an extensive knowledge and understanding of Healthcare markets. He is responsible for strategic planning and research, market intelligence, communications and government liaison, nutrition and dietetics and the development of service offers. CHRISTINA MÖELLER is Head of Co-op Test Kitchen in Sweden: a Nordic Business Cooperation that are part of the International Cooperation Alliances. DR HAYLEY MYERS spent a number of years as Director of Retail Research at Corporate Intelligence Group and then Mintel International where she focused on analysing the changing nature of the European retail environment and implications for retail companies and consumers. She has recently returned to an academic role at the University of Surrey. RHONDA SMITH is Managing Director of GCI Healthcare UK, where she is responsible for overseeing both UK and European campaigns in public health and consumer healthcare. She has specialised in healthcare PR & communications across the nutrition, food, dietetic, consumer, not-for-profit, statutory and health professional sectors, with a particular focus on older people. PROFESSOR WIJA VAN STAVEREN is Professor in nutrition and gerontology at Wageningen Univeristy. She is also part-time professor in nutrition at the University Medical Centre in Utrecht. Current research is mainly in the field of nutrition and the elderly. The SENECA (Survey in Europe on Nutrition and the Elderly, a Concerted Action) represents a longitudinal study, focussing on the relationship between nutrition and health. DR BARBRO WESTERHOLM was a Member of Parliament for 11 years. In 1989 she was elected chairperson of the Swedish Federation of Liberal Women. In 1999 she was elected President of the Swedish Association of Senior Citizens and therefore left Parliament. Since 2000 she is also Chairman of the Board of Växjö University and the editorial committee of Infomedica. |
