Team Profile The main teaching activities of the Department of Human Nutrition are: food analysis, basic and advanced human nutrition, food toxicology, nutritional epidemiology, biological evaluation of foods and nutritional assessments. Research is focused mainly on food consumption surveys and assessment of nutritional status of certain population groups (including older people), nutrient bioavailability and interactions among food components (animal models) and nutritional education and dissemination. Katarzyna Kozlowska has been involved in two international studies: SENECA (since 1991) and HealthSense (2000-2003). SENECA was conducted to study cross-cultural differences in nutritional issues and lifestyle factors affecting health and performance of elderly people in Europe. HealthSense Project focused on the relationship between sensory physiology and food preferences, especially a degradation of sensory capability and the way it affects food preference and general wellbeing. Her main scientific interests are: food toxicology and nutrition of the elderly (a qualitative and quantitative approach). She is involved in Work Packages 2, 5, 6 and 8. Anna Szczecinska is highly experienced in sensory analysis and consumer tests. She has been involved in several international sensory projects, e.g., Copernicus (1995-97) and International Guidelines for Proficiency Testing in Sensory Analysis (1999-2000). She also worked on the HealthSense project. She is involved in Work Packages 2, 5, 6 and 8. Wojciech Roszkowski has been involved in several international projects, e.g., SENECA, HealthSense, Folate- Func-Health (2000-2004; a strategy to lower the level of homocysteine in blood through folate-rich and enriched foods or supplements) and HALE (2001-2004; changes in and determinants of healthy ageing in terms of mortality and morbidity outcomes). His main interest is nutrition of the elderly. He is involved in Work Packages 2, 5, 6 and 8.
